GUILDERLAND (Monday, Aug. 29, 2016) — Guilderland Center Rehabilitation and Extended Care Facility, in collaboration with the American Heart Association, will offer a free CPR Anytime training workshop for local residents Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 6-7 p.m. The training will take place at the facility, which is located at 428 NY-146, Guilderland Center.
CPR Anytime is a non-certifying CPR program for anyone who wants to learn basic CPR skills, choking relief and AED awareness. Local residents of all ages are invited to attend this interactive workshop to learn basic CPR, receive important information about prevention, and learn about important risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
Each participant will receive a CPR Anytime kit so that they can share the skills with close family and friends. The kit includes a manikin, instructional DVD and pamphlet.
“Though most cardiac arrests occur at home, they can happen to anyone, anywhere and at any time,” said Josh Gurock, administrator, Guilderland Center Rehabilitation and Extended Care Facility, adding that CPR is a basic lifesaving skill that could help save the life of a family member, friend, co-worker or bystander. “Our training session takes approximately one hour but its value will last a lifetime.”
“Community-based CPR training events are designed to increase awareness about the importance of CPR training and to support the American Heart Association’s national effort to strengthen the `chain of survival’ when someone experiences sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke or other medical emergency,” added Tom Mossotti, American Heart Association Senior Community CPR Manager FDA.
Registration is required. RSVP by calling Guilderland Center Rehabilitation and Extended Care Facility at (518) 861-5141.
