Cryo Lodge

Interview with The Tedeschi Family

Q. What year did your business start?

A. We opened in Park City Utah in 2016 and in July of this year we moved the business home!

Q. Where are you located?

A. 1 Charles Blvd, Guilderland

Q. What is your phone number and website address?

A. www.cryolodge.net,  518-817-8141

Q. What hours are you open?

A.   Monday – Thursday: 7am – 10:30am

& 12:30 pm – 8:pm

     Friday: 7am – 10:30am  & 12:30 pm – 7pm

     Saturday: 8:30 am – 2pm

Q. How and why did you get into the business?

A.  Our oldest daughter ran cross country and track and field at DePaul University in Chicago where she first tried out Cryotherapy after doing a 10K. She quickly became hooked on Cryotherapy just after a few sessions because she was really feeling the difference it made on her recovery time. She started working at the Cryo Spa in Chicago and was always telling us of the benefits she was experiencing while doing Cryotherapy and Localized Cryotherapy. She shared stories of the people that came into the spa in Chicago with various injuries or conditions that cryo was treating.  We all quickly became impressed at the fact that her stories didn’t just include results for athletes, but people of all different ages with a variety of different needs for the treatments.  We did a lot of research on Cryotherapy and quickly opened our own family business with the goal of helping people heal, recover and feel better.

Q. Do you have many regular customers? Is there anything specific that they are always coming in for?

 A. It is very uncommon that a new client comes in for a first time chill and doesn’t come back. Most people do one or two chills and immediately see the impact and benefit on their body and become “a regular”. Being located inside of the CrossFit Aevitas Facility, we have a lot of regular Aevitas athletes as our regular clients.  They really love Whole Body Cryotherapy because of how fast it helps them to recover and get back in the gym the next day for a tough workout.  We have regular clients who also come in for overall health and wellness and continually tell us how amazing they feel after using our services and how much better they sleep at night or how energized they feel during the day. We have many clients who suffer from Arthritis or MS and Whole-Body Cryotherapy has helped to eliminate much of their pain.

Q. Are you known for anything special?

A. I would say we are known for the family atmosphere we provide.  Being a family run business and not a franchise we take the time to really get to know our clients on a personal and professional level. There are evenings where we have customers who have already chilled in the morning but are at the Lodge in the late afternoon or evening just to hang out!

Because we are a family business committed to helping people our pricing is significantly less that the others in the area that have to pay their franchise fees.  People are amazed at how much lower our pricing is in comparison and utilize the same American made equipment.

Q. Do you sponsor any local teams, if so which ones?

A. Since we just opened in July we have not sponsored any teams yet. We have, however, sponsored a couple local road races and have donated to many local charities events to provide prizes.

Q. What do you love most about the business?

A. We really love knowing that we are making a person’s life better by helping them feel better. It brings a smile to our faces when we see a client go from being in unbearable pain to feeling amazing and are getting back to things they enjoy that they couldn’t do prior to Cryo. From a person who can’t sleep at night and finally wakes up feeling rested, to the person who recovers faster from a surgery or has relief from arthritis. We truly enjoy the progress all of our customers make.

Q. What do you think is your biggest challenge with the business?

A. Cryotherapy has been around since the 1960’s (in European countries) but is still fairly new to the USA. While it has been really taking off in the past 3-5 years, people are still hesitant to actually make the step towards chilling. Although we have many testimonials, Cryotherapy is usually somewhat scary to folks the first time so getting them in the door and ready to jump in a tank that is -150 becomes a little bit more of a challenge.  They compare it to an ice bath when really it is nothing like that.  For those that are hesitant to jump into the cold we also have an infrared sauna which clients can sit in a warm environment and get similar benefits to cryotherapy.

Q. What do you want the community to know about you?

A. We are a family business that offers Whole Body Cryotherapy, Infrared Sauna Treatments, Cryo-Toning Facials, Localized Cryo Treatments and Normatec Recovery (compression therapy).  All services are designed to help promote wellness and recovery to our community.  We provide a warm welcome environment to all our clients and community.
