Perfect Pix with PaintShop Pro
The difference between a good digital photograph and a truly great one may be just a little bit of tweaking, which you can learn about when you attend the Digital Photo Forum on Thursday, November 21, at 7 pm.
An avid photographer who has loads of experience with Paintshop Pro XV photo editing software, Herb Brown, will demonstrate everything from the simplest task (cropping) to the more complex (adjusting color balance and contrast). You’re invited to bring your fully charged laptop and work along with Herb, or just come and watch him in action.
A sample of the Paintshop Pro program can be downloaded for free at the Forum using GPL WiFi. No library laptops will be available. Please register by calling 456-2400 x 2 or by going to the Library’s website, clicking November 21 on the calendar, and signing up for the Photo Forum.
Get Messy with Sid the Science Kid
Children in first grade through fourth are invited to spend Saturday morning, November 23, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, getting messy with Sid the Science Kid from PBS.
First you’ll watch a Sid the Science Kid DVD that follows Sid and Gabriela on their adventure in the Super Ultimate Science Museum. Then Barbara Lukas from WMHT, our local PBS station, will lead you through a hands-on experiment … making slime. It will be very fun and very messy.
Registration is required and an adult caregiver must accompany each child to the program. Please register by calling 456-2400 x 4 or by going to the Library’s website, clicking November 23 on the calendar, and signing up for “Get Messy.”
Give Thanks this Season…
Give Blood Tuesday 11/26/13 1pm to – 6pm in the Library’s Helderberg Room.
Just before the holiday why not pause and give the ultimate “renewable resource”? You don’t need a special reason to give blood. You just need your own reason. Some of us give blood because we were asked by a friend. Some know that a family member or a friend might need blood someday.
Some believe it is the right thing we do. Whatever your reason, the need is constant and your contribution is important for a healthy and reliable blood supply. And you’ll feel good knowing you’ve helped change a life.
To schedule a donation call 1.800.733.27677. Or go to: redcrossblood.org
The Library will close at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 27, and be closed Thursday, November 28, for the Thanksgiving Holiday. It will reopen at 10 am on Friday, November 29.
